The community section of BoomTribe.com is focused on
interaction between BoomTribe members and our online
platform provides many ways in which people can find and
find out about each other.
Message Boards
The heart of BoomTribe.Com, like many virtual
communities, is its message boards. Our message boards
are run by a team of volunteer Community Leaders (aka
Moderators) and include all the standard features that
people have come to expect from a forum platform.
Members can control how many threads and messages are
displayed per page and members can choose to be emailed
whenever someone responds to their messages, helping to
ensure that conversations will continue and your forum
will thrive.
Use smiley faces when posting to better express
yourself and include an icon with your post to mark its
type (users can then sort threads based on this type).
An icon displays whether the author is currently online
or offline.
Members can perform text searches across all forums
and jump instantly to the correct place. They can easily
see additional information about the authors of given
posts, including how many times they have posted and
where.
In the future, we plan to introduce forums are only
accessible to paid members, although these will probably
be more business-oriented topics, like possibly a music
industry forum moderated by a real entertainment lawyer.
Look out for our unique Caribbean smileys, coming
soon!!
Newsletters
BoomTribe members can currently choose from one of
our six email newsletters to keep up-to-date on specific
topics on BoomTribe.com. Email addresses remains private
at all time and members can easily add and remove
themselves from our newsletter lists at any time.
We are a 100% spam free company and send no
unsolicited email messages. Members receive no more than
2 newsletters per month per list and are guaranteed to
receive no more than once/week.
Our newsletters are absolutely free and members can
sign up on registration or from the Newsletters page.
Member Search
Contains a powerful member search function based on
the registration questions - you decide what fields are
available in the search.
Who’s Online?
Displays a list of all members currently on the site.
The member names are clickable to open up a member's
More Info page.
Instant Messenger
Our 'Intra-Site Messenger' allows members to send
private text messages to each other. Messages can be
sent using a simple compose form and members can create
multiple folders to store their messages. Members can
add members to their Buddy List directly from a message
and view a 'message history' of all messages they've
exchanged with someone on their buddy list. A user can
easily add a member to their block list if they don't
want to receive messages from him/her.
Surveys
Let us know what you think by taking part in our
surveys. Some of our surveys are used to improve our
various products and services and some (quite a few) are
simply for fun. Either way, our surveys are just one
more reason why BoomTribe.com is the leader in Caribbean
online communities.
Polls
Our polls are usually used for pure entertainment or
to get some quick feedback from the BoomTribe community.
Poll results are instantly displayed in a pleasant
graphical chart and this adds to the level of
interactivity of the site.
Trivia
Trivia (quizzes) are a standard feature of the
BoomTribe.com experience. The quizzes are not just
purely entertainment, as they also serve to increase the
knowledge of the Caribbean islands and diaspora. By
allowing everyone to appreciate our differences and
similarities, we hope to bring the young people of the
region closer together.
Each quiz can have an unlimited number of questions
and possible answers. Special messages are added to to
make each quiz unique and fun to take. Our software
keeps statistics on the correct and incorrect answers
per quiz so that members can measure their performance
against those who've taken the quiz previously.
We block the same user from taking a quiz more than
once to maintain proper scoring but every now and then,
we reset the blocking so everyone can try again. We’re
nice that way.
Features
We’ve got a number of Community features planned for
BoomTribe.com. ‘UWIView” articles will feature
intelligent assessments of issues facing UWI students.
‘Young Entrepreneurs” talks about young people out there
making things happen and tips for those considering the
entrepreneurship option. Each month we also profile a
“Community Leader” of the month, chosen from our group
of volunteers.
“Boardwatch” features what’s hot on the
message boards at present and profile the member
selected as BoomTribe member of the week, based on their
contribution to the BoomTribe community. |
